Jay Binder, C.S.A of Binder Casting who has cast more than 50 Broadway shows, joined Broadway Theatre Project’s 2013 season once again this year as a guest artist. Binder individually auditioned apprentices in voice and dance providing them with advice and insight into the NYC audition experience.
Jay’s Broadway casting credits include: “Nice Work If You Can Get It” (2012), “Born Yesterday” (2011), “The Miracle Worker” (2010), “A Chorus Line” (revival), “Chicago”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and others. His film casting credits include “Dreamgirls” and “Chicago”. Television credits include: “Once Upon a Mattress”, “The Music Man”, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures Television. He is the Seven-time Artios Award winner.
Broadway Theatre Project (BTP), a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization, is the renowned musical theatre intensive that provides its apprentices with critical training in the disciplines of acting, dancing and singing, taught by a faculty of accomplished educators and performers. As part of its mission, the program strives to engender apprentices with the personal skills necessary to work and survive in the professional world of performing arts. 2013 Artistic Directors are Debra McWaters and Darren Gibson.
Broadway Theatre Project’s 23rd season is currently taking place July 7- 28, 2013 in Tampa, Florida. Jay joins the ranks of Gregory Hines, Austin Pendleton, Julie Andrews, Joel Grey, and Patti Lupone, among many others as a guest faculty member at the Project.
