Broadway Theatre Project sends a huge CONGRATULATIONS and a warm welcome to Sarah Pothier, recipient of the 2013 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region 1 – Richard Maltby, Jr. Award for Musical Theatre Excellence! As the recipient of this prestigious award, Sarah will receive a full scholarship to the 23rd Season of Broadway Theatre Project, a musical theatre training program taking place July 7- 28, 2013.
The goal of the KCACTF musical theatre area is to celebrate and recognize outstanding work in musical theatre that is done throughout the region over the course of the year.The KCACTF Region 1 Richard Maltby Jr. Award for Musical Theatre Excellence recognizes outstanding musical theatre performance by a student in higher education theatrical productions. At least one student is nominated per entered musical production. Throughout the calendar year, KCACTF respondents select nominees while attending Region 1 entered productions. The nominees that were selected attended the annual Region 1 festival and participated in musical theatre master classes, as well as a showcase performance where one award recipient, was selected based on their work in the showcase.
Sarah Pothier is currently a junior at Rhode Island College (RIC) where she is studying Musical Theatre. Sarah has participated in several musicals and plays at RIC, and is a member of the RIC Dance Company. Sarah also has some background in technical aspects of theatre, she is currently working as a technical assistant at RIC. Sarah is absolutely honored to be the 2013 recipient of the Richard Maltby Jr. Award!
